Campus Safety Officer
Classification: Part-time, hourly
Education: College degree preferred, however, relevant education and work experience will be considered
Supervision Received: General Supervision
Supervision Exercised: May supervise student officers
Work Schedule: Various shifts—must be available holidays and weekends
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt
Example of Duties:
Responsible for patrolling and securing the campus grounds and buildings; responding, investigating and documenting criminal and non-criminal incidents; reporting any physical security issues (i.e., burned out lights, damaged locks, broken windows, etc.) that may endanger the safety of students, staff and visitors of Adrian College. The expectation is that safety officers will act as leaders, trainers and role models for the student safety officers.
This position requires a highly-motivated person with relevant experience in law enforcement, public safety, campus safety or security. Individual should be an effective communicator with the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Other requirements include, but are not limited to, conducting investigations, preparing reports and the ability to enforce campus regulations. Individual must be proficient in basic Microsoft operating systems with internet access to check email for daily department correspondence. Assist with athletic and special college sponsored events alongside local law enforcement and emergency personnel. Perform other administrative tasks as assigned by the director of Campus Safety.
Physical Requirements: WIthin normal bounds of an office environment and ability to conduct physical patrols of campus.
