Adrian College’s English Studies programs offer a comprehensive and diverse study of the language through coursework in writing studies, literature, cultural studies, linguistics, English education, critical theory, and creative writing.
The English Studies degree is anchored by 24 credits in major core requirements that provide students with a breadth of English Studies courses in literature, writing, and language. 12 additional credits at the 200 & 300-level provide more depth in these areas, and allow students to select courses tailored to their interests within the discipline. Major Program Requirements:
Students majoring in English must complete 36 credit hours within English studies. A grade of C or better is required for most prerequisite courses in English. English courses number 081, 090, 119, 120, and 190 do not count in the 46-hour limitation on departments. ENGL347 and ENGL348 do not apply towards the English major, minor, or Associate degree. These courses can only be used for certification in T ED.
