Because athletic training is an allied health profession, there are certain health requirements that Athletic Training Students (ATS) must meet in order to work with athletes. These requirements are established to keep both the student and the athletes they are treating safe.
- Prior to beginning observation hours associated with ESPE 145, all students must complete blood-borne pathogen training.
- Prior to enrolling in sophomore level athletic training clinical coursework (ESPE 345, 346) students must have the following on file:
- Signed technical standards
- Signed communicable disease policy
- Proof of current CPR for the professional rescuer (or equivalent), and first aid certifications
- Proof of immunization review (including Hepatitis B vaccine)
- Proof of blood-borne pathogen training
- Proof of HIPAA/FERPA training
- Prior to enrolling in ESPE 445, 446, 545, and 546 students must have the following updates on file:
- Proof of current CPR for the professional rescuer (or equivalent), and first aid certifications
- Proof of blood-borne pathogen training
- Proof of HIPAA/FERPA training
