Designing their futures.
After studying drafting and renderings, sustainable design and construction—the next step is to put what you have learned into practice.
Kat Labick focused on the contemporary movement towards environmentalism, where consumers are more aware of their social responsibility. Sustainability is something interior designers are setting their sites on: looking at conserving energy and reducing toxic emissions. Labick’s presentation looks at two LEED-certified commercial buildings (a new build and an existing structure) ti see if there was a difference in the sustainability of the buildings. The presentation covered literature review on sustainability, challenges of finding comparable projects and where Labick sees the research heading next. The presentation centered around the ribbon Caring for Humanity and the World.
