Chamber Ensembles
Our department of Music recognizes the important role that chamber music participation plays in the development of professional musicians. Small ensembles afford the musician the ability to grow as a soloist while simultaneously maintaining the awareness of ones role as a team member.
Brass Ensemble
Brass ensemble is an ensemble that is tailored to the personnel and instrumentation of the students enrolled. Students will gain knowledge in the performance of chamber music with emphasis on balance, control, intonation and independence of parts, developing the skill and art of interpreting written musical compositions in an informed, creative, expressive manner within the appropriate style of the compositions.
Chamber String Ensembles
Our chamber ensemble exists in many manifestations. From duos, trios and quartets to collaborations of the group as a whole, we explore the music of many areas. Special events over the past few years have included hosting a program dedicated to the music of women composers, hosting a fundraiser for a music program in Haiti and field trips to hear professional chamber ensembles in the region.
Chamber Winds
Chamber winds is an ensemble that is tailored to the personnel and instrumentation of the students enrolled. Flute Choir
Flute choir presents arrangements of music from different eras, places and styles a minimum of one performance a semester. Members rotate parts and may be asked to play piccolo, c flute, alto flute and bass flute. There are no auditions, and any student from any major can join. Flute choir members will be challenged to work as a cohesive group be focusing on balance, control, intonation and independence of parts.
Percussion Ensemble
The Adrian College Percussion Program utilizes a comprehensive curriculum, exposing students to all areas of percussion performance. Students have the opportunity to explore the areas of snare, drum, keyboard percussion, timpani, multi-percussion, drum set, hand percussion and electric instruments and technology. The percussion curriculum is designed to cultivate pedagogy and creativity, as well as technical proficiency and musicianship.
The percussion ensemble performs a wide range of repertoire from contemporary chamber music to jazz and pop arrangements. Percussionists of all abilities and experience levels are welcome to participate. Performance opportunities are numerous and include off-campus events, as well as chamber concerts and a percussion studio concert every spring semester.
