Welcome, Bulldogs!
The Bulldog Marching Band has just completed its 15th season as the “Spirit of the Stadium.” The band primarily performs at halftime for home football games. One of the more exciting small-college marching bands in the land, the Adrian College Bulldog Marching Band welcomes all members with previous music experience. Drumline, color guard and twirling teams have a limited amount of additional rehearsal time. We take great pride in presenting high-quality shows that display our strong brass and woodwind sections, drum-line and visual teams. The band also features an outstanding color guard and award-winning twirler teams. (Note: We offer scholarships specifically for guard and twirling in addition to instrumental scholarships). In addition to football field shows, the BMB performs for the Swanton Corn Festival Parade, the AC Homecoming Parade, and the Lenawee County High School Marching Band Exhibition in early October, as well as other exhibitions during the season.

The Adrian College Concert Band
Concert band rehearsals begin in early November when football season ends. Students who choose to participate in the Concert Band agree to invest the necessary practice time outside of rehearsal to prepare challenging literature selected for performance. Past programmed works include Whitacre’s Godzilla Eats Las Vegas, Vaughn Williams’ Folk Song Suite, Holst’s First and Second Suites for Military Band. Grainger’s Lincolnshire Posy, and Nelhybel’s Trittico.
The Adrian College Jazz Ensemble
This band has established itself among the finest of small college jazz ensembles in the Midwest. Recent performances have included the music of Charles Mingus, Thad Jones, Pat Mentheny, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, and numerous others—covering the whole of jazz history from its roots to the present. There are options for students to form smaller jazz combos of their own and to learn jazz improvisation from our faculty.
The Adrian College Pep Band
Our pep band is the busiest performance group on campus, lending support to 30 or more basketball and hockey games each year. This mostly student-run, highly energetic band takes pride in contributing to the success of our teams while playing great music.
