Accountancy
College graduates in Michigan are currently allowed to sit for the CPA examination with a baccalaureate degree, which includes at least 24 hours of accounting credits. However, and Michigan and many other states require 150 hours of college/university credit hours, which includes 30 hours of accounting credits, to become a licensed Certified Public Accountant after passing the CPA examination.
By adding the Masters of Science in Accounting option to the existing four year Bachelor’s of Business Administration - Accounting and the five year Bachelor’s of Science-Accounting baccalaureate program, graduates wishing to enter the CPA profession will obtain a practical knowledge base to enhance their opportunity to pass the CPA examination and increase their marketability to potential employers.
