ADRIAN, Mich— Adrian College announces the 2012 Homecoming events welcoming alumni, friends and the community to campus September 28-30, 2012.
Beginning Friday, September 28, partake in an adventure in the newly renovated Robinson Planetarium and view the “Origins of Life” in full dome video at 7 p.m.. Then, join friends and fellow Bulldogs for a “Bulldog Skate” in Arrington Ice Arena. Skate rental is $2.00 with free admission.
On Saturday, September 29, the annual Homecoming events officially commence with the 5K Bulldog Run and 25K Bulldog Ride at 9:00 a.m.. Tailgating for reserved parking guests will take place in the Merillat parking lot from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. with food vendors and other activities open to the public. Throughout the day, enjoy other activities including the Alumni Art Sale in Caine Student Center and a public skate with the Adrian College Synchro Team.
An open house will be held for the official launch of the new Institute for Creativity in Shipman Library from 10:30 a.m. – noon. The traditional “Kids Korner,” petting zoo and train rides will be operating from 10:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with a special juggling show at 2:45 p.m. offering lots of entertainment for children.
Other can’t miss events include the AC Corn Hole Tournament, an afternoon of hockey as the ACHA D1 Hockey Team takes on Kent State University and the Homecoming Parade which begins at 1:00 p.m.. The parade route is set from the 400 block on to South Maumee St. to Madison St. Michigan Ave. and Charles St. concluding nearby the Multi-Sport Performance Stadium on the College’s campus.
Bulldog spirit returns in full black and gold glory as the Adrian College Bulldogs take on the Hope Dutchman with kick off at 5:00 p.m. at the multisport stadium. Gates open at 4:00 p.m., general admission is $5; seniors over 60 and children under 10 $3. For reserved seats or season tickets, contact Kristina Schweikert at 517-265-5161 ext. 3998 or 5044.
After the game, continue the Homecoming celebration, as Mid Lyfe Crysis, featuring local musicians, will provide live music.
On Sunday, September 30, the Homecoming worship service will be hosted by AC’s Chaplain Christopher Momany with special guest speaker alumnus Rev. Mark Miller ’83 at 11:00 a.m. in Herrick Chapel. Join the community for a contemporary and traditional service also featuring the new AC Women’s Choir led by Dr. Thomas Hodgman.
Later on Sunday, enjoy the sounds of the Adrian Symphony Orchestra as they present “Epic Journey” in Dawson Auditorium. Tickets are available online at adriansymphony.org.
The Caine Student Center will feature campus amenities including Jazzman’s Coffee, Scoreboard Café with Quiznos & Grill 155, and the 110 Madison Ave. salon with special Homecoming hours. The Arrington Bookstore will offer Saturday hours to purchase your black and gold spirit gear and Bulldog attire.
