ADRIAN COLLEGE COMMUNITY CLAY PROGRAM TO OFFER FALL CLASS IN CERAMICS
ADRIAN, Mich – The Community Clay Program sponsored by the Adrian College Art and Design Department will offer a fall class in ceramics. Beginners through experienced clay students will learn and further refine techniques for throwing on the potter’s wheel. Classes will be held in the fully equipped ceramics studio in Mahan Hall on the Adrian College campus on Saturdays from 9:30 A.M. – Noon, October 13 – November 17, 2012.
During these classes, students will explore firing in the new soda kiln and experience a session in Raku – a Japanese technique of fast firing pots in a glowing outdoor kiln.
Pi Benio, Adrian College Professor and Ben Coffman, Adrian College BFA and exhibiting potter with Fire and Water Gallery, will lead instruction. Enrollment will be limited to the first 17 students to register. Generous studio time will be available during the week for attendees. Cost for tuition, studio time and materials is $160.00. Half scholarships are available for high school students.
