ADRIAN, Mich – The Adrian College Art and Design Department, in conjunction with Evans Street Station in Tecumseh and the First United Methodist Church of Adrian, will sponsor two separate Empty Bowls events in January and February. All proceeds from these signature events to benefit the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen.
In 2010, this distinguished event raised over $12,000 to support those in need in Lenawee County. Over 500 bowls were purchased to support the worthy cause.
Adrian College art students, teaching assistants, staff, Community Clay students, and the Adrian College Art Rocks Kids (ARK) youth art program have hand-crafted bowls with a sales goal of 700 bowls offered for a donation of $10-$30 each. Bowls can be purchased on site at each event, filled with soup and taken home as a token of the support for this event.
Empty Bowls will kick off 2012 at Evans Street Station in Tecumseh on Monday January 30, from 11 A.M. – 2 P.M. The second event will be hosted by First United Methodist Church on Maple Avenue in Adrian on Sunday February 12, 2012 from 11 A.M. – 2 P.M. All soup will be donated by local restaurants.
