ADRIAN, Mich. – Adrian College has taken one more step towards making a liberal arts education more valuable and affordable to its students, while alleviating the financial burden of college loans. AdrianPlus, a new loan repayment assistance initiative, offers to pay all or part of its student’s loans if they are unable to secure a well paying job post graduation.
“In a time where student debt is a primary concern for parents and families, Adrian College is pleased to provide yet another way to make a private college degree affordable,” said Dr. Jeffrey R. Docking, president of Adrian College. “Student debt load continues to be a national concern. AdrianPlus provides our graduates the financial stability they need as they enter the workforce without being burdened by excessive debt.”
Beginning in Fall 2014, Adrian College will roll out this initiative to all incoming freshmen and transfer students offering loan repayment assistance following graduation. Support will continue until the individual’s income rises to a level of financial sufficiency or until loans are completely paid off. Qualifying students will receive an Award Letter from Adrian specifying the details of how AdrianPlus works.
Adrian College is the first of its size in Michigan to offer this level of assistance to an entire incoming class. In recent years, U.S. News and World Report recognized Adrian College as a ‘Least Debt Load’ and a ‘Best Value’ college in the Midwest. Similar programs to AdrianPlus have been utilized by colleges and universities for over 20 years, but predominantly only among Ivy League institutions.
“While garnering this national recognition, Adrian College remains committed to offering small class sizes with individual attention from accomplished faculty. We know that many students thrive best in smaller educational settings where they can easily get the tutoring and personal attention they need to succeed academically.”
“We believe that money and cost should not be an insurmountable barrier to receiving this type of quality education,” Docking said.
