ADRIAN, Mich. (April 20, 2015) – Adrian College announced its spring commencement is scheduled for 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 3, 2015. In keeping with recent tradition, the commencement ceremony will be held at Commencement Plaza in the center of campus along the mall. Thirteen graduate students and 242 undergraduate students are expected to take part in this year’s ceremony.
A traditional Baccalaureate service will be held in Herrick Chapel at 10:30 A.M. Herrick Chapel is located on the College campus off of Charles Street.
This year’s commencement speaker is William (Bill) K. Hall. The former resident of Adrian, Michigan is a general partner of Procyon Advisors LLP, a Chicago-based firm providing consulting and growth capital for healthcare services companies. He also volunteers as an adjunct professor at the University of Michigan, where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on entrepreneurial leadership for the College of Engineering and the Ross School of Business.
Honorary degrees will be awarded to Hall, as well as Doug Kapnick, a long-time resident, leader, philanthropist and integral part of the greater Adrian community. Kapnick is currently chairperson of the board of directors for Kapnick & Company, a general insurance agency in Adrian.
He has served Adrian College as a member and president of the Board of Associates, sat on the planning committee for the Excellence campaign, the library campaign and co-chaired the first Business Industry Professional campaign.
During the ceremony, the graduating class will present the College’s beloved Shepherd’s Crook to undergraduates as a symbol of achievement and a transfer of responsibility. Before passing the crook, the president of the graduating class attaches a ribbon bearing the name of each class member.
