
ADRIAN, Mich (February 9, 2016) – Adrian College Theatre presents Othello by William Shakespeare February 17-19 at 8:00 p.m. and February 20, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in Downs Hall Theatre. Othello is possibly the most famous literary exploration of the warping powers of jealousy and suspicion. It is also among the earliest literary works dealing with race and racism. The play tells the story of a powerful black general of the Venetian army, Othello, who marries a younger white woman and then has his life and marriage ruined by a conniving, deceitful and envious soldier, Iago.
