ADRIAN, Mich (August 15, 2014) - Adrian College welcomes another impressive class, as 580 new students are scheduled to arrive on campus Sunday, August 17 for Welcome Week. This incoming group marks the eighth consecutive year the entering class has exceeded the 500-student mark, continued evidence of a recruitment momentum that began in 2006.
“The College continues to attract an increasing number of qualified students,” said Erin DeSmet, Director for Admissions. “This year’s class is further evidence of the firm commitment to a distinctive and well-rounded liberal arts education.”
DeSmet goes on to note that College received a record-breaking number of applications for this incoming class, and highlights the higher academic standard of its applicants. The incoming class is diverse in its demographics, boasting students from 18 states and four countries including Canada, Switzerland and Nigeria.
“A great deal of the praise for enrolling this diverse class is credited to the College’s admissions staff and the coaching staff who, together, shoulder the bulk of the recruiting responsibilities,” said Frank Hribar, Vice President for Enrollment & Student Affairs at Adrian College. “The staff was challenged to continue to increase the academic standards of the entering class profile and they delivered. This is the best academic class in many years.”
Welcome Week festivities will kick off Sunday, August 17 with new students moving on campus to set up class schedules, meet with faculty and other students, take part in unique community and campus experiences and concluding with a two-day tour of Chicago with their class. Classes resume Monday, August 25.
