DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - For the first time in school history, the cheerleading team at Adrian College embarked on their way to Daytona Beach, Florida to compete in the National Cheerleading Association Collegiate Championship. The All-Girl Team qualified via video earlier this season to compete in the All-Girl Intermediate Division II.
On day 1, the cheerleaders competed at the Bandshell placing first in their division during the Challenge Cup advancing the team into finals for day 2. On day 1, the team did not hit a perfect routine, but had a perfect score of 10 for the cheer and a total score of 82.60. On day 2, the team had one too many miscues costing them the National Championship with their final placement being seventh out of 12 teams with a final score of 82.70. Adrian College beat out Bridgewater State University, Alma College, Curry College, University of the Incarnate Word, and Framingham State University.
“I am very proud of the All-Girl Team. What set them apart is how they overcome the adversity they faced all year,” Smith stated. “Having to reorganize the routine, and still perform the way the ladies did, was victorious in itself,” coach Smith stated. “This team never hit a perfect routine this year, had they done so, the outcome would have been much different. What held this team in the finals was the level of difficulty that was choreographed by Coach Smith. This year was a great first year by the entire program. I am glad to have been a part of this journey,” Smith said.
Congrats to the Adrian College All-Girl Cheerleading Team and the Adrian College Spirit Program for a victorious year. It’s a Great Day to Be a Bulldog!
