ADRIAN, Mich.—In one week for the first time in school history, the cheerleading team at Adrian College will embark on their travels to Daytona Beach, Florida, to compete in the National Cheerleading Association Collegiate Championship. The All-Girl Team qualified via video earlier this season to compete in the All-Girl Intermediate Division II level.
“It is great to be one of the national qualifying teams for cheerleading from the state of Michigan,” head coach Regina Smith states. “Adrian College spirit programs has progressed under the new direction of Smith.
“This year has been a year of trials and triumphs,” Smith states. “It has been a unique journey all ending in victories thus far”.
The All-Girl Team is scheduled to compete on Thursday, April 11 in round one at 9 a.m., at the BandShell in Daytona Beach. Upon their performance, the team’s placement for round two of the championships, will be announced at the end of the division on day one.
The dance team who also qualified for nationals will no longer be attending due to personal matters of teammates.
“It saddens me upon hearing the news the dance team will not compete for the National Collegiate Dance Division III title, but I am very proud of the girls that finished the season with a first place victory in March,” said coach Smith.
The All-Girl team will be hosting a send-off event for the opportunity to perform their national routine one last time before they depart directly after to head to Daytona Beach on Tuesday, April 9 at 4:20 p.m., located in the Adrian College Merillat Performance Gymnasium.
The Cheerleading team will be accepting can goods to donate to the local food pantry for admission to the event. It’s free and the All-Girl Cheerleading team hopes fans will come out and watch!
Once again, congrats to the Adrian College All-Girl Cheerleading Team. It’s a Great Day to Be a Bulldog!
