ADRIAN, Mich - Adrian College will host HYLA, a nationally-respected youth and young adult program of The United Methodist Church, June 25-28, 2014. HYLA (the Hispanic Youth Leadership Academy) is an initiative that began as a pilot program of the Mexican American Program at Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Over the past 10 years, HYLA has grown into a nation-wide forum.
“We are very, very excited to host young people from this initiative,” said Adrian Chaplain Chris Momany. “We will have a group of highly motivated youth from Michigan but also from farther away. This is not just a camp; it is a very intentional environment for leadership development.”
The program provides mentoring from seminary professors, graduate students, and other church professionals. HYLA’s main mission is to support and guide Hispanic youth who would like to thrive in college and then serve the church and the world.
