“In Recognition of Unparalleled Performance”

Adrian College Marching Band receives formal invite to march in Queen's Jubilee on New Years Day in London.

ADRIAN, Mich. – On October 29, a festive occasion amidst the inclement weather, the Adrian College Marching Band accepted their formal invite from the Lord Mayor of Westminster, Catherine Longworth. The group was scouted and selected from an exclusive list to take part in the annual New Year’s Day parade in London, this year recognized as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Described as “the greatest parade” at over twice the size of the acclaimed Macy’s Day Parade in New York, The New Year’s Day Parade is watched by millions in person and via television broadcast. The parade will conclude in the heart of London in Westminster.

The Lord Mayor expressed her enthusiasm at having the Adrian College Bulldog Marching Band perform at the upcoming festivities. “In recognition of an unparalleled reputation for performance abilities, we extend this invitation to the Adrian College Bulldog Marching Band to participate.”

The formal invitation was presented to Dr. Marty Marks, director of bands after which gifts were shared with formal attendees.

The Adrian College Band will spend a week immersed in the culture of the United Kingdom both before and following the conclusion of the events.
