Traveling exhibition hosted at Adrian College through September 13.

ADRIAN, Mich. – Mextasy: Seductive Hallucinations of Latina/o Mannequins Prowling the American Unconscious is a traveling stereotype and exhibit based on the works of William “Memo” Nericcio and Guillermo Nericcio García. Mextasy both reflects and expands upon Nericcio’s 2007 book, Tex[t]-Mex: Seductive Hallucinations of the Mexican in America.

Students and community members can view the exhibit at Shipman Library on the campus of Adrian College. This event is free and open to the public.

On September 11, a presentation entitled “Compulsively Desireable, Utterly Loathsome: Mexican and Latinino/a Bodies in the 21stCentury” will take place in Jones Hall (Room 110) beginning at 7:00 p.m. An additional lecture, “Disrupting the Optical Hegemony of Stereotypes Now” is scheduled for September 12 in Knight Auditorium in Valade Hall beginning at noon.
