New Adrian College Sports Network announced

ADRIAN, Mich. — Adrian College’s (AC) Athletic Department recently announced new affiliate broadcast partners and staffing details for the Adrian College Sports Network. The brand new Adrian College Sports Network is an expansion on existing framework, intended to better serve the media outlets involved, as well as the college.

The Bulldogs have added three affiliates to their new network for the 2019 football season. Fans will now be able to tune in to Adrian College games via Adrian College TV (ACTV) live on YouTube, on WVAC (107.9 FM), and on long-time commercial broadcast partner WLEN (103.9 FM).

WLEN Radio, one of America’s most decorated radio stations, has carried Adrian College football for nearly two decades consecutively. The station remains the sole commercial radio partner of Adrian College’s sports broadcasting.

“We’re very excited to have our broadcasts reaching such a large audience,” AC Athletic Director Michael Duffy said. “I think that people forget we have an NCAA football team right here in Lenawee County, and this will help us reach kids who may not have otherwise thought about Bulldog football.”

Additionally, Adrian College announced plans to return its broadcast crew of half-of-a-decade. Gabriel Schray and Ian Wendt have been tabbed to continue broadcasting Adrian College football on the new platform.

Schray has been the voice of Adrian College football since 2014, when he assumed play-by-play duties on what was then the brand new ACTV. Schray then transitioned to the commercial feed, replacing Steve Barkway as the radio voice of the program. Schray also calls games on BCSN in Toledo and JTV in Jackson.

Wendt, back for his fifth consecutive year, will serve as color commentator and analyst for the broadcasts. Wendt is a 2016 graduate of Adrian College and is WLEN Radio’s News Director. Schray and Wendt have called the last 50 AC games together, and will continue that streak this season.

The pre-game, post-game and halftime shows from Docking Stadium will involve current Adrian College students. “I’m really excited to be bringing students into some of these real situations,” Schray said. “To get some of these big jobs, you have to be able to just get on air in sideline and host positions. A lot of these smaller networks and smaller markets still see fierce competition. These students will have the tools they need upon graduation to secure a starting position.”

The 2019 Bulldog football campaign begins on Saturday, Sept. 7, with the first game of the season. Adrian will be at home with a 6 p.m. kickoff. Purchase tickets to the game by visiting
