Newblom and Early Named MIAA Players of the Week

Women's lacrosse players snag both offensive and defensive players of the week

ROYAL OAK, Mich.  – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Adrian midfielders Heather Newblom and Hannah Early its Players of the Week in women’s lacrosse for matches played through March 10.

 

Offensive Player of the Week

Newblom, a senior from Holland, Ohio (Toledo St. Ursula Academy), scored six goals on just seven shots as the Bulldogs won two of three games on their spring trip. She had three goals and two assists, caused two turnovers and scooped up two ground balls in a 17-5 win over Greensboro, N.C. She also had two goals in a 13-9 loss to nationally-ranked Christopher Newport, Va. Newblom is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time this season.

Defensive Player of the Week

Early, a junior from Shelburne, Ontario, Canada (Centre Dufferin District HS), scored eight goals, picked up 11 ground balls and had 20 draw controls during Adrian’s three-game spring trip. She had five goals and controlled six draws in a 17-5 win over Greensboro, N.C. She had nine draw controls and five ground balls in a 17-7 win over Misericordia, Pa. Early is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time this season.
