Robinson Planetarium January Events Announced

ADRIAN, Mich (December 11, 2015) – The Robinson Planetarium and Observatory has announced its upcoming show schedule for January. The following events will be playing throughout the month in the Robinson Planetarium on the campus of Adrian College. Admission is free for all showings.

Below is the show schedule for January 2016.  Please note that the planetarium will be closed on Friday, New Years Day.

Star Talk: Night Skies of the New Year

Join us on this cold, crisp winter evening for a live star talk focusing on the winter skies. As the new year begins, some of the brightest astronomical objects are high in the sky.  Stargazers will be rewarded with views of the star Sirius in Canis Major, Orion the hunter, and the planet Jupiter. This show will focus on the folklore of these stars and constellations and what the upcoming Quadrantid meteor shower promises.

Two Small Pieces of Glass

This Fulldome show features two teenage students at a local star party where they learn about the history of telescopes, the nature of light and how telescopes work, as well how these instruments have allowed us to expand our understanding of the Solar System and beyond. During this show you will travel in both time and space, visiting Galileo and Newton as they make their historic discoveries and exploring astronomical wonders such as the Galilean Moons, Saturn’s rings, and spiral galaxies.

Flight Adventures

Discover the science of flight through the eyes of a young girl and her grandfather as they explore how birds, kites, planes, and models fly.  In this Fulldome planetarium show, you will journey through the history of flight and into the future to learn how NASA is discovering new and safer ways to travel with the help of future engineers and aviators.
