ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College athletic department has announced the hiring of Ryan Williams as the head men’s and women’s golf coach beginning with the 2013-14 school year. Williams currently resides in Potsdam, New York and most recently was a volunteer assistant golf coach at Clarkson University.
“We are delighted to bring Ryan Williams on board to lead our golf programs at Adrian College,” said athletic director Michael Duffy. “Ryan really impressed everyone involved in the hiring process with his vision for our golf programs. I believe that we will be competing for conference championships and graduating excellent student-athletes under his guidance.”
Williams has spent since August 2011 with the Clarkson University men’s golf program and handled many duties including practice plans, transportation and recruiting. Clarkson placed second in the ECAC Upstate Championships out of nine teams in October 2012. Williams also helped mentor two Liberty League All-Academic selections in 2012.
“I would like to start by thanking vice president of enrollment Frank Hribar, athletic director Michael Duffy and the whole athletic department for the opportunity to coach golf at Adrian College,” said Williams. “I am extremely excited to join the Adrian community and work with such great people. I am looking to build off the recent successes of both the men’s and women’s golf team and develop programs that compete year in and year out for conference championships and the opportunity to compete in the NCAA Championships.”
Williams worked as the assistant dean of undergraduate admissions at Clarkson University while helping coach with the men’s golf program from August 2011 to present. Williams graduated from the University of Rochester (NY) in May 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in financial economics with a minor in mathematics. He was a team captain on the men’s golf team from 2009-2011 and was named First Team All-Liberty League in 2008 and 2010. In addition, Williams was a Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon Scholar All-American in 2010 and 2011.
