Students Partner with Lenawee Historical Museum to Remember Adrian Training School

Exhibit on display at the Adrian Mall through May.

ADRIAN, Mich. (April 21, 2014) – The history of the Adrian Training School is among several topics as part of a series beginning Thursday April 24.  From 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. an exhibit entitled “Haviland’s Girls: From Wayward to Womanly” will be on display in the former Fashion Bug in the Adrian Mall.

Adrian College history students spent the semester studying the history of the Training School as well as evaluating the community’s involvement. The students will be on hand to answer questions on the 24th.  This exhibit will remain on display into May.

Also on April 24, Ray Lennard will host a program about the history of the Adrian Training School at the Lenawee County Historical Museum, located at 110 E Church St in Adrian. The program begins at 7:00 p.m. and will consider the 130-year history, and a few of the more memorable events in the School’s long history.  A few of the Adrian College students and Mayor Jim Berryman will also be on hand to share the stories of the past and explore the future of the site.
