Track Sets Three School Records at MIAA Field Day

A match-up at Hope College broke multiple school records

HOLLAND, Mich. – The Adrian College track and field teams headed to Hope College on Thursday and Friday and saw records fall in the process. Jacob Mehr was the conference champion in the shot put and has the 17th-best mark in NCAA Division III this spring with a toss of 53’ 4.5”. Andrew Mangiapane also was a conference champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:14.10 which is now 15th on the outdoor performance list nationally. Thomas Windle also set a school-record in the 1,500-meter run and finished fourth in the event with a time of 3:57.27.

The men and women both finished fifth in the Field Day with the gentlemen scoring 74 points and the ladies accounting for 54 points. Ty Calvin placed third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.75 and earned six points. Jazmine Brown crossed the finish line second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.84. Brown also had a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.30.

Derek Devee placed fifth in the hammer throw with a distance of 138’ 11” and earned four points. Haley Eubank placed fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 122’ and claimed five points. Eubank also placed third in the discus with a distance of 116’ 5”. Sarah Luma and Emily Borup each cleared 4’ 11.75” in the high jump and tied for third. Borup also got five points for her fourth-place finish in the pole vault.

Mehr followed up his school record in the shot put with a second-place finish in the discus with a throw of 154’. Brad Billings cleared a height of 13’ 10” in the pole vault and was second in the event.
