World Famous Euphonium Virtuoso to Perform at Adrian College

Steven Mead to teach and perform on campus February 15

ADRIAN, Mich. – On Friday, February 15th, world famous euphonium prodigy Steven Mead will be teaching and performing on the campus of Adrian College. 

Englishman Steven Mead needs no introduction to brass enthusiasts around the world as his playing and teaching have become known to virtually all who have a love for the instrument known as the euphonium. He is widely regarded as one of the most successful professional euphonium soloists in the world today, performing over 75 concerts a year with some of the leading orchestras, wind bands and brass bands in the world. He among the most travelled soloist in the history of the instrument, and has been described as one of the world’s most recorded solo brass artists with nearly 60 CDs produced since 1990. 

Many commentators suggest it is Mead’s vocal background that is responsible for the truly unique beauty of his euphonium tone. Professional musicians around the world have admired his rich expressive approach to musical performance and as a result Mead is performing increasingly with orchestras and chamber ensembles in addition to brass and wind bands. He has played with most of the leading brass and military bands in the world including Band of the Garde Republicaine (Paris, France) The Central Band of the RAF (London, UK) The Italian Police Band (Rome, Italy), The Dutch Marine Band (Rotterdam,Netherlands) and The US Army Band (Washington DC, USA).

Mead’s concerts and recitals are hallmarked by a unique communication between artist and audience. 

Mead will be hosting a Masterclass/Clinic at 3:00 p.m. This event is a rare opportunity for young musicians to have a personal opportunity to meet and receive tips from Mr. Mead.
