Biography

    Dr. Christy Mesaros-Winckles teaches the public relations and communication theory courses in the Adrian College Communication Arts & Sciences Department. She has a doctorate degree in communication studies, a graduate certificate in women studies from Bowling Green State University and an MA in communication studies/professional writing from Spring Arbor University. Her dissertation “Only God Knows the Opposition We Face: The Rhetoric of Nineteenth Century Free Methodist Women’s Quest for Ordination” won the 2013 Dissertation of the Year Award from the Religious Communication Association and her research on gender representation in mediated culture has been published in The Journal of Religion and Popular Culture as well as The International Review of Qualitative Research. She has co-authored several book chapters on topics ranging from family communication, evangelical media and reality television. She also has been cited in Marie Claire and Good magazines as an academic commentator for gender representation in Christian patriarchy culture.
