Nora Schankin is the adjunct professor of Bassoon at Adrian College. Prior to teaching at Adrian College, she taught at Concordia University, Hillsdale College and Eastern Michigan University. Ms. Schankin received her Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music degrees from the University of Michigan School of Music where she studied with Hugh Cooper.
Ms. Schankin maintains an active private studio and has been a member of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra since 1986. She is also the leader of the Ann Arbor Symphony Woodwind Quartet, a group that is very active playing in schools throughout southeast Michigan. Ms. Schankin also has the pleasure of working with the Toledo Opera, Michigan Opera Theater and many other groups in the area. She had been heard performing with the elusive ContraBand at the International Double Reed Society conferences in 2007 and 2012.
Ms. Schankin is married to her first husband Joseph DeMarsh, a music teacher and active tubist. They are getting used to an empty nest.
